Johannes Wieland
Johannes is originally
from Germany, but now lives and works in New York City. A former
principal dancer with the Bejart Ballet Lausanne, he trained at the
Hamburg State Opera’s Ballet School, and danced with the Brunswick
State Theater and Berlin’s German State Opera. Currently he has his own
company, johannes wieland, and has burst onto the scene with critical
acclaim during the short 2 years since his company’s formation. The day
before this image was made, it was officially announced in the press
that Johannes had won the 2004 Kurt-Jooss-Preis. The inspiration for the pose came
from a comment a friend had made about Johannes’ handsome arches.
