Gaëlle Communal
Gaëlle entered
into the Paris Opera School of Ballet at the age of 10 under the
direction of Rudolph Nureyev. Accepted into the corps de ballet at the age of 16, she continued dancing with the
company until the age of 25, performing soloist roles for Pina Bausch,
Jerome Robbins, Mats Ek, and Nureyev among others. She went on to dance
for two years at the National Ballet of Marseille, and then joined
the Lyon Opera Ballet, whom she was touring with during one of the
company's visits to the festival in 2002. Gaëlle is now the Ballet Master at the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse in Lyon. Here she is photographed in
Ted Shawn's original 1964 Ford. This is a special picture for me, as
this photo session was one of the many steps in our personal
relationship, which happily led to our marriage in Lyon in
September 2005. |
